The display of black varnished, brightly patterned wooden blocks on the table grows quickly. In each row you may only place blocks with the same pattern but of a different colour. Or different patterns in the same colour: for example circle, square and star in red. Each player can place more than one block. These have to be in a row but they might also score points by expanding other rows. A “Qwirkle” scores the most points – a complete row of six blocks. With your eyes on your own blocks and your mind on the simple rules, you need to search for the best place to play your blocks in this quick, colourful and quite sneaky game. You’ll also need a bit of luck to make sure you draw the right blocks.

Simple and logical rules define this almost self-explanatory block-laying game. Its captivating combination of colours and shapes placed into rows of six matching blocks requires a bit of luck but also forward planning and tactical consideration. The tactile and colourfully printed wooden blocks are so pleasing to play with that often one game quickly follows another. Qwirkle is a game that all generations can appreciate equally.
