The Spiel des Jahres jury has chosen the cooperative high-altitude flight “Sky Team” by Luc Rémond, published by Kosmos and Scorpion Masqué, as Spiel des Jahres 2024.
“Sky Team’ is impressive from take-off to landing in terms of gameplay, atmosphere and theme. The short rounds can be very rewarding if you win and if you miss the landing, you will want to try again straight away”, says the jury.
“The Magic Keys” is Children’s Game of the Year
The jury also selected the risk-taking treasure hunt “The Magic Keys” by Arno Steinwender and Markus Slawitscheck as Children’s Game of the Year.
The superb components are only trumped by the exciting feeling of risk-taking and the positive feeling of playing the game. With many good rules decisions, the designer team has created an extraordinary children’s game that children will love to return to again and again”, says the jury.
„e-Mission (Daybreak)“ is Kennerspiel des Jahres
The Spiel des Jahres jury also announced the Connoisseur Game of the Year at the festive awards ceremony. This prize, which is aimed at more experienced players, was awarded to the sustainable world-saving game “e-Mission” by Matt Leacock and Matteo Menapace, published by Schmidt. The jury’s statement said: “Daybreak is brilliantly designed, exciting and educational – and it shows the value of co-operation: if everyone works together, it is still possible to overcome this global crisis. The designer duo have also succeeded in presenting the highly charged and topical issue of climate change without ever pointing an accusing finger.”
