Humans need rituals. They give us support, remind us that we’re not alone and create a feeling of solidarity, especially in times of difficulty. ‘Ritual’ transforms this experience into a game. Players swap coloured runes with each other to try and fulfil their own personal collection goal. This doesn’t sound too difficult at first, if it weren’t for the time pressure and the spiritual commandment of silence. We must attune ourselves to the needs of others, learn to read their actions and allow them to understand our own wishes. If we all lean towards the short-sightedness of egocentricity and choose to follow our own goals exclusively, we will all fail together. As a group, however, with persistent practice we can learn to work together to tackle increasingly difficult tasks.
